Six Unexpected Beauty Uses for Honey
The beauty industry has taken a more holistic approach than ever before and is paying close attention to ingredients including pure honey. You may not know it yet, but honey’s benefits go beyond sweetening up your morning porridge or warm cup of tea - there are also plenty of beauty uses of honey on your face, body and even in your hair, which we are looking forward to trying here at Forever Living UK.
Give yourself a honey facial
Honey is great for hydrating the skin, leaving it soft, radiant, and glowing because it acts as a humectant, drawing water out of the air and into itself. Simply bring your skin back to life by applying Forever Bee Honey as a face or body mask and let it sit on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes.
Boost your hair with honey
Because honey retains and attracts moisture, it can keep your hair feeling smooth and healthy. There are two options for applying honey in your hair: Either mix in 1 teaspoon of Forever Bee Honey with your shampoo or mix 1/2 cup of honey and 1/4 cup olive or coconut oil.
Use honey in the bath
As the seasons change, so can your skin. But warm baths with soothing ingredients can keep your skin in check, plus did you know Cleopatra allegedly bathed in milk and honey to achieve a glowing complexion? If she can do it, so can you! Just simply mix two tablespoons of Forever Bee Honey into one cup of hot water until the honey is dissolved. Then pour the honey mixture into a tub of warm water to soak.
Moisturise your cuticles
If you have dry and cracked cuticles, it can be quite uncomfortable and unsightly to look at. You can purchase creams and oils, but our home remedy is to apply a little bit of honey around your cuticles which can draw moisture back into the skin. For extra moisture, you could also mix in some Forever Aloe Vera Gel and olive oil with the honey.
Exfoliate your skin
Using honey as an exfoliator can create a much gentler feeling for your skin, just simply mix together two spoons of honey and one spoon of baking soda. Baking soda offers light exfoliation while the honey soothes and smooths the skin. You can also use this DIY honey exfoliator on your arms, legs and feet.
Soothe chapped lips
Maybe you’ve got chapped lips from the cold, windy weather? Or have you been out in the sun too long? Honey can work wonders to soothe dry skin and chapped lips because it contains a hygroscopic natural sweetener, which means it draws moisture to your lips. Alternatively, you can apply our Aloe Lips which contains aloe, jojoba and three types of wax to smooth and soothe chapped, dry lips.
